Abigale Miller bio
Abigale Lee
Mills (born September 21 1965) was a American dance instructor, choreographer,
and reality TV host. She is the founder of the Abby Lee Dance Company, which
appeared on the reality show Dance Moms for eight seasons. Miller pleaded
guilty on June 27, 2016 to criminal bankruptcy fraud. Miller was sentenced to a
year and a day in federal prison, and was released on March 27 of 2018. She was
diagnosed with lymphoma in April of this year. It's a kind of cancer that makes
her in a position to not walk. The wheelchair she uses now is used to move
around. Miller was born in Penn Hills, Pennsylvania. She was a professional
dancer and was a student under her mother at the Maryen Lorrain Dance Studio.
Miller was just 14 years old when she was asked to choreograph and the role of
coach on one of her mother’s competitive dance teams. Miller was given the
reins of the studio and renamed Reign Dance Productions in 1995. Miller was
certified by Dance Masters of America, and was a part of Dance Masters of
Pennsylvania Chapter 10 (February 1986). However, DMA terminated her membership
in February 2012 due to Miller's reality television show Dance Moms was a
"complete misconception of our teachers and their students" and was
detrimental to the profession.
